American Family Stories with Joe McHugh
Remember the story about grandma and how she killed a snake in the spring house? Or the time great-uncle Victor gave his gold watch to a hobo on Christmas Eve? And what about Aunt Millie when she saw her husband's ghost on the night he was lost at sea?

Master storyteller and radio producer Joe McHugh has traveled the backroads of America meeting people and recording their family stories. These stories have been featured on numerous public radio programs including NPR’s Morning Edition. They also aired weekly on the international English-language service of the Voice of America. Joe is now available to speak to your organization. An engaging raconteur, he spins a complex tapestry of cherished stories that enliven the imagination and draw us together again as a people. Funny, wise, sometime outrageous, his stories remind us in this emerging age of machines what it means to be human.

And if time and circumstance allow, he encourages audience members to share a few of their own family stories. It makes for a memorable evening that is sure to captivate and delight.

This is a one-hour presentation with audio stories shared from the archives of the American Family Stories Project. Some tech is required. Suitable for adults and older children.
